Over the years, it has become necessary to define the several duties that elected and appointed members of the executive are expected to exercise. Following is a digest of them:
The position of conference chairman, like that of editor and university representative, is an appointed one. Commonly, it is expected that the person appointed to the position will develop and share statements of duties which parallel those of the executive of the Council to guide the operation of the conference committee. What should be noted in particular is that the conference committee, although it often acts in a somewhat independent fashion, is always responsible to the executive of the Council. Consequently, matters related to the setting of conference fees, to the application for financial assistance and to the location and timing of conferences is subject to executive approval.
